Our attempt at Ice Sculptures was a few day process. First, we saved old margerine/sour cream/yogurt containers for a long time. Then we filled them up with water and added food colouring. We mixed the colours and ended up with purple as well as orange. Our goal is to freeze the coloured blocks and make them into an ice tower. Just a warning if you try this at home: Food Colouring is very messy!!
Once the water was frozen (believe it or not it took a LONG time for the water to freeze since we are having such a mild winter!!) we took the blocks of ice out and made a tower!
Koen enjoys building towers and then knocking them over! Only to rebuild again!
We figured out that if you stack a little snow in between the blocks that they will stick (they are very slippery) so this time Koen made a very tall tower using the snow as "glue".
It was fun. We will definitely do this again sometime but on a much larger scale, wouldn't it be fun to build a whole ice fort out of coloured blocks??? Maybe next year....or later this year??

We saw a house near Christmas time one year where a guy had obviously saved his milk cartons for a LONG time. He froze blocks of ice and built a castle. It was really neat!
what a great idea! i marvel at the energy you seem to have with your boys! Can you send some my way?
Angie - that would be so cool!!
Becky - how about I send Koen? haha!
